Time Out to Recharge…

When was the last time you took some time to ‘recharge your batteries’?  If you’re like me, it may not have been any time recently!  Unfortunately many people in the workforce don’t even use the holiday time they have coming to them, yet time away from work can help you ‘chill out’ and improve your ability to deal with the the pressures of  living and working in stressful times.

This year I made time to visit my son and daughter-in-law in their new home town, Rossland BC.  I’ve always loved the mountains – there’s something awe inspiring and up-lifting about them and their beauty feeds my spirit.  And the area they live in is truly beautiful.  I got a chance to snowshoe at the ‘Summit” and hiked up KC Trail, from where the accompanying shot looking down on Rossland was taken.  And I spent a day skiing at Red Mountain!  The snow was fantastic – and I can even attest to the fact that falling and sliding part way down the mountain wasn’t even all that bad!  All part of a great day on the hill.  And the views from the top were indeed awesome.

Luckily we had a fairly clear day and as the clouds lifted you could almost see forever!

My holiday was both invigorating and relaxing, even though that sounds like an oxymoron, and I definitely felt better for it.

After I left I Rossland I spent a couple of relaxing days visiting with relatives in Cloverdale BC (no snowshoeing or skiing – everybody was gardening and cutting the grass!) then it was back home.  And what I realized yet again is that to really THRIVE we need to take time for ourselves and ‘recharge our batteries’ every now and then.  I know I  my energy level was up and I was full of new ideas and projects I just couldn’t wait to start.

So when was the last time you took some time just for yourself and did something that made you feel better, happier, more relaxed?  Something that helped reduce the stress in your life and helped you to ‘recharge your batteries’ so you could deal with the world around you?

And if it’s been a while, why not take a moment to put your feet up and relax, maybe read a book or do something you enjoy – just for the fun of it?  And if not now, when?  After all, you deserve to do more than just survive, you deserve to THRIVE!

Till the next time :-)
